After receiving Botox, what steps are necessary to care for the treated area properly?
To properly care for the treatment area after Botox, here are some guidelines to follow:
- Maintain an upright position for 4 hours after the procedure.
- Do not rub or massage the injection site for 4 hours post-treatment, including avoiding facials.
- Refrain from engaging in strenuous physical activity for 24 hours.
- Limit alcohol consumption before and after treatment to minimize the risk of bruising.
- After the procedure, you may notice small bumps under the skin, but they should disappear as your body absorbs the product.
After Receiving Dermal Fillers: What to Do in the First Hour?
- Apply an ice pack and use Arnica topically to help reduce bruising.
- If needed, take acetaminophen to ease any pain.
- Avoid scratching, massaging, or touching the injection site. Redness or discomfort is common after an injection and should go away in a few hours to days. Please contact our office if these symptoms persist for more than three days.
6 to 10 Hours After the Treatment
- Avoid exposure to intense heat such as sunbathing, tanning beds, saunas, hot tubs, or hot wax until the swelling and redness have subsided.
- To help reduce swelling, consider taking an antihistamine during the day, such as Zyrtec or Claritin, and Benadryl at night.
- If there’s a noticeable bump, you can gently massage the area. Some areas may feel firm, but they should soften and settle within 1-2 weeks.
- You can apply sunscreen and makeup and clean the treated area with a gentle cleanser.
What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and facial hollows. They restore volume to sunken cheeks and enhance the lips and other facial features. They can also improve the appearance of scars and other skin imperfections.
How long do dermal fillers last?
Dermal fillers’ duration varies based on the type of filler and the treatment area. On average, most fillers last between 6 months to 2 years, but some last even longer.
How much do dermal fillers cost?
The cost of dermal fillers varies depending on the type of filler used, the amount used, and the location of the practice — the average price ranges from $500 to $1,500 per treatment.
Are there any side effects of dermal fillers?
Some common side effects are associated with dermal fillers, including swelling, redness, pain, itching, and bruising at the injection site. These side effects are usually temporary and go away within a few days.

What is the difference between Botox and dermal fillers?
The main difference between Botox and dermal fillers lies in their uses: Doctors use Botox to temporarily relax the muscles, causing wrinkles, whereas they use dermal fillers to restore volume and fullness to the skin. Botox typically lasts 3-6 months, while dermal fillers can last from 6 – months to 2 years.
What are lip fillers?
Medical professionals use lip fillers, which are injectable dermal fillers, to add volume and definition to the lips. Manufacturers typically make these fillers from hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the skin, to enhance the size and shape of the lips.
What is the difference between lip fillers and other types of injectables?
Manufacturers specifically design lip fillers for use on the lips, whereas they create other injectables, like Botox, to treat wrinkles and fine lines on other parts of the face. Each injectable type has a different composition and purpose, and you must choose the right one to achieve your desired outcome.
What are the benefits of lip fillers?
Lip fillers provide a non-surgical way to enhance the lips’ appearance by adding volume and creating a fuller, more defined look. You can also use them to balance asymmetrical lips or accentuate the cupid’s bow and corners of the mouth.
How long do lip fillers last?
The duration of lip filler results can vary, but on average, they last between 6 and 9 months.
Are there any risks associated with lip fillers?
Like any medical procedure, there are some risks associated with lip fillers. These can include swelling, bruising, pain at the injection site, and rare but more severe side effects such as infection and allergic reactions.
How much do lip fillers cost?

You should avoid extreme heat, cold, and any activities that could cause excessive swelling for the first 24 hours after the treatment.
